Frank Zappa (Terrorist)

Zappa or Guy Fawkes?
The illusion of freedom in America will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion is too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the table and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.
Frank Zappa
 RIP Frank.
Below ... the fine print at the bottom ... FZ.
terror, terror, everywhere!

Dial the wayback machine to Circa 1986. The Reagan Era. T'was Morning in America. The kerfuffle of the day was was song lyrics. Government intervention was needed to protect America. A clip from that era, Crossfire show. The whole show is there, and it's full of fireworks. Mr Zappa predicts Americas descent to a fascist theocracy at about the 10 minute mark. Enjoy.

I think we're closer to a fascist corporatocracy or mebbe a fascist oligarchy. But let's not quibble over semantics, eh?

Prohibition

It's been called the "boob tube", a vast wasteland, or the "idiot box".
But sometimes, television transcends those derogatory labels and becomes a tool of enlightenment and education. Tonight Public Television premiers the new Ken Burns and Lynn Novick film titled Prohibition.

If you've seen their Civil War series you know the depth that this film-making team bring to a topic.

I plan on watching all 5½ hours of this one. I want to know how the Temperance movement gathered enough steam to amend the Constitution. More importantly, how was that situation reversed?

I'm hoping it may shed some light on the current state of affairs with the "War on Stuff that about half the population uses regularly".
The question that I've had for years, was the prior generation smarter than us, or did they have more backbone? Or both?
