Massacre at the Grammer School ... Brought to you by Lunesta

Oh ... to be employed at the network vid chop shop.
The pace must be absolutely FRANTIC!

The splash screen logos!
The WHOOSH sound effects!

More of our non-stop festival of blood, gore and evil guns in a moment, but first ...
A word from our sponsor!

Brought to you by Project Luna!
Sleep is vital

C'mon Sheeple!

LUNESTA acts quickly, so take it right before bed, and only if you have 8 hours to devote to sleep. Do not take LUNESTA if you are allergic to anything in it. LUNESTA should not be taken together with alcohol. Until you know how you will react to LUNESTA, you should not drive or operate machinery. Call your doctor if your insomnia worsens or is not better within 7 to 10 days. This may mean that there is another condition causing your sleep problems. Walking, eating, driving or engaging in other activities while asleep without remembering it the next day have been reported. Other abnormal behaviors include aggressiveness, agitation, hallucinations and confusion. In depressed patients, worsening of depression including risk of suicide may occur. These risks may increase if you drink alcohol. Severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the tongue and throat occur rarely and may be fatal. Call your doctor if you experience these or any effects or reactions that concern you. LUNESTA, like most sleep medicines, carries some risk of dependency. Side effects may include unpleasant taste, headache, morning drowsiness and dizziness.

Never mind those pesky mandated "black box" side-effect warnings. It's only a sleeping pill! You should be glad your not taking something for depression! Now ... back to our program!

TBTI

Heard a new phrase from the talking heads this morning.
It was used referencing the HSBC drug laundering story.

Too Big To Indict

“The message sent by the U.S. Department of Justice is that if you are going to engage in large-scale money laundering for Mexican drug cartels, make sure and do it within the scope of your employment working for a bank because you won't be prosecuted regardless of the egregious nature of your criminal conduct,”

Jimmy Gurule, a former assistant U.S. Attorney General

Seems that criminal charges are way too inconvenient once you pass a certain threshold in the size of your criminal enterprise

We're operating in a new era.
I'm sure John Corzine  wasn't the first pioneer blazing this trail.
What was once a trail in the wilderness, has become graded, improved and paved.

Partisanship

This floated past on an acquaintance's FB page.

I agree Ms. Warren. If Corps = Peeps, there'd be no need for legal distinctions betwixt the two.
Howsoever ... you kinda run aground at the end there. The Financial Corps took care of your appointment to the Consumer Financial Protection  Bureau, din't they? It's pretty much what we've all come to expect in this, the Age of Graft.

What's it going to take to change gun laws in America?

Live CNN Cafferty's Question of the Hour.
A new Pew Research poll shows that these mass gun shootings don't change the publics view of gun laws.
To paraphrase Jack; "In light of the recent mass shootings in Aurora Colorado, the Sikh Shooting in Wisconsin, the Virginia Tech massacre, the Giffords shooting, what's it going to take to change gun laws in America?"

or as I heard the question ... "Why is the Blood Waltz not as Effective as in Years Past?"

To answer Cafferty's question ... Seems that persistent, sober work to return God given rights to legal status by dedicated Americans is what changes gun laws. Blood dancing? Not so much anymore.

Making out bills

Saddled with credit card debt? Sick and tired of bank scandal after disgusting bank scandal?
Then you've got to try the new Militant American money-savings plan.
First go through your credit cards. Match the bank with the scandal that stinks up the news.
For instance, this week I owe a payment to Barclays Bank. Here's the check they're getting;

Save money with Zero's!
Now all I've got to do is sign, stamp and send that baby. I've saved some real money with just one check! I'm beginning to feel empowered!" I'm getting the hang of this "financial stuff".

"But I don't have a Barclays Bank card!" you say. No worries, Mate! Here's one for CitiBank:

See? Easy!
"But I don't feel right about not making my minimum monthly payment!" you say. Very well then. Let your conscience be your guide. First look at your "Account Balance". Look at the "total Amount Due". Write this number down.

Then do a Google "news" search on your bank. Count up the number of stories that have the word scandal in them. Write this number down.

Now go to your original "credit card agreement". You should have this on file. You do don't you? Maybe you can find it online. Now read it through. Every. Word. This is important. Don't cheat. I'll wait.

Done?
Very Good! Now how many times did you swear? Write that number down. Write down the number of aspirin that you took to try and clear that nasty "numbers headache".

Now, next to your numbers, write down these names;
John Corzine
Jaime Diamon
Rick Ricci

Now look at your worksheet. Do the numbers add up to ZERO yet?

Do a "worksheet" to "get it all down on paper"

If not, then you need to read more about our wonderful global banking industry. Read as much as you can. Take the time to learn whats going on with these Whiz-Bang Bankers and Hero's of Finance. Give it some time.
I'm sure you'll get to zero's soon.

Jumping off a (welfare) cliff

H/T Doug Ross @ Journal

Mr. Ross writes;
I wrote last year about the way in which welfare programs lead to very high implicit marginal tax rates on low-income people. More specifically, they lose handouts when they earn income. As such, it is not very advantageous for them to climb the economic ladder because hard work is comparatively unrewarding... Thanks to the American Enterprise Institute, we now have a much more detailed picture showing the impact of redistribution programs on the incentive to earn more money.

Have seen this central thesis proven in my life.
I've witnessed people willingly drop out of job training because the job would pay them too much money and threaten their government subsidies.

It's the strategy, Stupid!

U.N. Me and Gun Control

Y'know ... I was mildly concerned about all the brouha goin' 'round about this Global Small Arms Control Treaty. But, really, figured it was a bunch of lying politicians and ineffectual diplomats implementing bureaucratic regulations blowing a lot of hot air. Nonetheless. Could it really subvert the US Constitution?
Repeal the 2nd Amendment?

Then. I. Saw. This.

Watch the trailer. Available on iTunes even.

C'mon. It's the U.N.
They can't even come up with a definition for terrorism.

In a bygone era ...

Cleaning out the garage the other day, came across an old box top.
It was from Ma. She was keeping sewing notions in it. That's beside the point.
It was a small box that once held a Taylor brand Ashton Humidiguide Hygrometer.
Maybe circa 1950's

What caught my eye though, was the copy inside the box top.

"Skilled American Workers paid in accordance with American Standards of Living, produced this entire instrument in the United States of America"
What a concept.
Before "globalization." Before the "race to the bottom."
Businesses actively promoted something as elitist egalitarian democratic (small "d"!) as an American Standard  of Living.

Taylor Instruments is still in business.
While initially surprised, I'm pleased to know it.

Treasonous malfeasance

h/t David Codrea

More than a million Chinese counterfeit electronic parts are estimated to be in use in U.S. military aircraft, according to a U.S. Senate report released Monday saying the discovery jeopardizes safety and national security.

Most likely heavily bribed officials in the supply chain, succumbing to a Communist nations efforts to cripple the defenses of an enemy nation. Or am I being an inscrutably paranoid?

Frontline's Frothy Fulminations

Let me first say. I enjoy Frontline. For free tv, it's pretty much top shelf. Their latest offering is Money, Power and Wall Street.  It kicked off last night with a double episode.  Ya'll can watch the first two hours online. Two more hours to follow.

It was an in-depth recounting of the Wall Street implosion that we witnessed circa '08.

What I found grating was the soft peddling of the criminality of it all. Not that they avoided it all together. The focus was more on the technical aspects and "How could we have known?" versus "Those Sonsabitches just robbed the Treasury!".

The background info of how BHO was plugged in during the run up to the election was interesting.
They've got extended interviews online as well. Maybe some of the "Gangsta Bankster" sentiment can be found there.

I plan on watching the rest of it. Maybe even rewatching the beginning. Just so I can take names for my list.

Bacon magic

This has been amazing me for a while.
As a beginning, D-Class Blogger, I've been learning that certain topics reap more eyeballs than others.
Witness the power of Bacon!
It's like magic!
My single post using the magic  word was just a pointer to another blog I like, still pulls eyeballs

Mystery Solved comes in a distant second. That's attributed to a single comment from an A-List Scribe. Thanks Tam.

http://cookingquest.wordpress.com/2008/06/16/baking-bacon-oven-frying/

And just to not feel like I'm merely trolling for hits, I'll address the topic of Bacon magic.
I've known that this is possible for awhile.  Oven Baked Bacon. I finally tried it.
Cooking bacon without all the turning and stove top baby sitting, oven baking really works.
Crispy deliciousness the easy way. I may never cook bacon on the stove top again.

Finished my taxes

Mitt Romney addresses NRA today

July 1, 2004; Mitt signs Massachusetts State Assault Weapons Ban
NRA Life Member since 2006, Mitt will be addressing the NRA convention in person today.
I'm sure that he'll be sayin' things the audience wants to hear.

Do ya feel like you've got no other option?
Do ya trust him more than the "other guy"?

The money quote from a Massachusetts resident, Henry Dane, president of the Concord Rod & Gun Club
"I'm willing to give him a chance on these issues because I think his heart is much closer to being in the right place then the other guy,"

Overall the HuffPo article seems to be written as a COINTELPRO piece written with a smirk, sowing seeds of doubt about the "R" guy. Like ... Where ya gonna go?
Bottomline? I've got no doubts. You can't trust any politician to protect your rights.

h/t Reuters via Chicago Trib

Whats with the trademark? Has the word "justice" been trademarked? the concept?

(Reuters) - An internal NBC News probe has determined a "seasoned" producer was to blame for a misleading clip of a 911 call that the network broadcast during its coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting, according to two sources at the network.
"Reporting" a close approximation of the facts isn't enough. They must "form" public opinion.

Author and blogger James Kunstler has a blog named Clusterfuck Nation.
Been reading it for awhile.. With a name like that it was irresistible. It's usually an insightful page on the current  zeitgeist, with an eye towards peak oil, urban sprawl, and sustainability.
Here's a sample;

Gird Your Loins for Lower Living Standards
There's a lot to be nervous about, even if you don't subscribe to the undercooked Mayan apocalypse lore moving through the gut of the Internet like a Staphylococcus-infected tamale. The casual observer might say that nothing seemed to give on the world scene in 2011 despite the Fukushima meltdown, the Arab Spring uproars, the train wreck of European finance, the disappearing act at MF Global, and the assorted injuries done to the Kardashian brand by the giant walking dildo Kris Humphries.
While generally istumbling around his site, I saw that he's got a neat-o archive of podcasts.
Give 'em a listen.

As a side note ... the banner artwork is awesome.

You Might Be a Libertarian

h/t Wendy
I've only stolen Wendy's first and last points. All the meat in the middle is just as tasty.

* If you believe in capitalism but don't have two nickels to rub together... you might be a libertarian.

* If you fit the FBI's new description of a domestic terrorist... you might be a libertarian.

Liberty. What an outdated concept.

Bearcats ever'where

The folks of Keene, NH are saying "NO! Oh Hell No" to this. Even though the Federalés say its free.

Should be seeing these around Chi-town this spring.
The traditional line that was emblazoned on the the squads when I grew up was "To serve, and protect", that was the police departments mission statement, serving and protecting the law abiding populace. There's been a slight shift reflected in the Lenco logo.

See what they did there?

When I see heavy material like this I have to ask, "Who's the enemy?"

Freedoms just another word ...

for having nothin' left to lose.
TL writes a stirring post Let Us Begin.
As he calls for a Liberty Summit, TL enumerates the rationale

... great numbers of us who will gladly make a stance at every opportunity if it did not mean giving up everything we have, tossing our families into the maelstrom ...
(emphasis mine)

That's the crux of the biscuit though, ain't it?
That's what happens.
Ya got nothing left to lose.

Meme-alicious

Drone meme provided by Global Guerrillas ... John Robb makes the technical case why these gadgets are awesome for life in fields and streets today. Aerial observation appears to be going viral and coming under stricter use enforcements at the same time.

Add a 3D printer and live the high-end Techno1st Century

Custer could'a used this!

High Power Rocketry "enjoys" many of the same type of use restrictions. For pretty good reasons. Seriously serious hobby, tech-wise. However, restrictions on these high powered missiles shouldn't be used as a foundation for whats needed for drones.

Battle Rocket?

The Real Curse

“The real curse in America today is not Barack Obama and Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden and Richard Daley and Rahm Emanuel. They’re not the real punks. The real curse in America is apathetic, disconnected, uncaring, unconscionable Americans who dare not engage in this unique, sacred experiment in self-government.” ~ Ted Nugent

Tripwire

Just cruising around.
This rabbit hole began at the FBI Communities Against Terrorism pamphlets. Did'ja know there's a whole set? Do you realize how dangerous Hydrogen Peroxide is?
Call 888-705-5742, mention "Tripwire"

Even yer local, friendly, tattoo shop has been recruited for anti-terr work.

BJA? Who? Terrorist activities related to tattoos?

Surely you've heard of the DOJ. Department of Justice.
How about the Department of Justice Assistance? No? Here's their mission;
BJA's mission is to provide leadership and services in grant administration and criminal justice policy development to support local, state, and tribal justice strategies to achieve safer communities.

Damn. This warren of rabbit-holes is endless.

I had absolutely no idea that we had a NW3C ... National White Collar Crime Center.

continuously funded through competitive grants for over three decades

Their Mission?
The mission of the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) is to provide training, investigative support and research to agencies and entities involved in the prevention, investigation and prosecution of economic and high-tech crime.

Killer Robots; the future is here.

Alright. Drones. That. Make. Decisions. To. Kill.

Didn't anyone at Northrop Grumman see any of the Terminator movies?
This does not bode well.

Robb also mentions super-empowerment of drones for peons too.

California realtors using drones are just now getting their LAPD notices now to cease and desist.

This may be technology that the .gov likes and uses ... but it's not for you.
